From Design to
Mass Production.
Turning a drinkware idea into a finished product takes more than a good design. It requires the right material, decoration process, sampling plan and production controls. At Mugbaby, we work with you through each stage—from the first brief to mass production and delivery.
Step 01 / Project Discovery
Project Requirements: Defining Your Brief.
Product Type & Material
Choose a suitable cup type and material based on how the drinkware will be used, your design, and your target market.
- Plastic (PP, AS, PS) Tumblers
- Aluminum Cups & Sports Bottles
- Stainless Steel Drinkware
- Glass Cups & Ceramic Mugs
Capacity, Size & Structure
Confirm the capacity, dimensions and construction, including single-wall or insulated designs. We can review existing molds or discuss custom tooling where needed.
- Volume (12oz, 16oz, 24oz, etc.)
- Lids, Straws, Handles & Silicone Boots
- Cup-Holder & Retail Shelf Fit
Printing Effects & Design
Tell us about your artwork, base colors, print area and any special effects you would like to achieve.
- Cold- or Heat-Activated Color Change
- Photochromic & Glow-in-the-Dark
- Pattern Reveal & Multi-Effect Combos
- Pantone Matching & Print Coverage
Quantity, Budget & Lead Time
Share your estimated order quantity, target price, packaging needs and delivery schedule. These details help us assess a suitable production plan.
- Target Order Quantity & Tiered Pricing
- Target Delivery or Launch Date
- Custom Color Box, Gift Box & Packout
- Target Market Food-Contact Standards
Step 02 / Pre-Press Engineering
Design & Artwork: Preparing for Production.
Confirm Product Specifications
Confirm the cup shape, dimensions, capacity, material, components, colors and print area before the artwork is finalized.
Check Artwork & Separate Colors
Check the artwork file, dimensions, print boundaries, wrap alignment and color layers. For color-changing designs, separate the standard artwork from the special-effect areas.
Check Production Feasibility
Review whether the selected material, cup shape, printing method and special-effect requirements work together. We also check details such as adhesion, print position and activation temperature where applicable.
Recommend Design Adjustments
Our team may suggest adjustments to line thickness, logo size, artwork position or seam areas to help the design reproduce more consistently in mass production.
Already have a product specification? You can start with an artwork review.
Send us your artwork, Pantone references and any approved sample. We can begin by reviewing the artwork and proposed production process.
Step 03 / Physical Verification
Sampling & Approval: Confirm Before Production.
A sample lets both sides review the product before mass production. We check its appearance, colors, printing details and required functions against the agreed specifications.
Sample Production
We make a sample based on the confirmed material, product structure and decoration method. If the sampling process differs from mass production, we will clarify this during the review.
Verify Colors, Graphics & Effects
Check color matching, artwork position, print quality and the intended color-changing effect under the agreed test conditions.
Sample Performance Testing
Depending on the product and destination market, we can discuss relevant checks such as adhesion, leak resistance, thermal performance or food-contact testing.
Client Sign-Off for Mass Production
Once you approve the sample in writing, it becomes the reference for mass production and the agreed quality checks.
Step 04 / Scalable Manufacturing
Mass Production: From Components to Finished Drinkware.
1. Raw Material Preparation
Materials and components are prepared according to the approved specifications. These may include plastic resins, metal, glass or ceramic bodies, lids, seals, and the inks or decoration materials required for the design.
2. Cup Body Production
The cup body is made using a process suited to the selected material, such as injection molding or material-specific forming. Key dimensions, shape and surface condition are checked against the agreed specifications. Insulation checks are included where applicable.
3. Printing & Decoration
The selected decoration process is applied according to the material and artwork. Options may include screen printing, decal application, heat transfer or in-mold labeling (IML). Color-changing and other special effects are applied where specified.
4. Post-Processing & Assembly
Products then move through the finishing and assembly steps required for the design, such as curing or firing, component fitting, lid and straw assembly, and packaging preparation.

Approved specifications and project records help support quality checks and future repeat orders
Step 05 / Verification & Fulfillment
Quality Control & Delivery: Checked Against Agreed Requirements.
Appearance & Dimensional Inspection
We check product appearance and key dimensions against the approved sample and agreed inspection criteria. Checks may cover scratches, spots, rim finish, shape and component fit.
Printing Effect & Adhesion Testing
We check print position, color appearance, adhesion and the required color-changing effect. Specific tests are selected according to the decoration method and project requirements.
Product-Specific Functional & Lab Testing
Where applicable, functional and third-party tests can be arranged according to the product material, intended use and destination market.
Custom Packaging, Carton Packing & Shipment
Products are packed according to the confirmed packaging specifications. We check carton marks, quantities and packing details before shipment.
