Combining Printing Technologies for the Perfect Balance of Quality and Efficiency.
With over 30 years of experience and 10,000+ customers served, Mugbaby understands what matters most: vibrant color-changing effects, accurate brand color matching, faster production, reliable lead times, and competitive pricing. That's why we combine screen and offset printing to achieve the best balance of quality and efficiency.
Screen Printing
Screen printing is one of the most versatile printing methods--and a core craft we take pride in at Mugbaby.
Color-changing pigments have larger particles (2-10 μm), making screen printing far better suited to pass and deposit them smoothly than offset printing.
Offset Printing
Cup designs often combine color-changing effects with detailed, non-changing graphics--making offset printing essential for precision and production efficiency.
Tailored Transfer Solutions for Every Material
After printing, transfer processes bring flat-printed designs onto curved, three-dimensional surfaces. With over 30 years of experience, Mugbaby has developed two key solutions: Water Decal and In-Mold Labeling (IML). We believe these processes offer an excellent balance of quality and cost, while accommodating different order volumes.
Water Decal Technology
Water-soluble carrier film lets screen-printed graphics wrap curves, handles, and recessed areas.
Low-Temp Decal
140°C-180°C varnish bake for color changing coatings.
High-Temp Decal
580°C-820°C kiln-fired ceramic flux fuses into glass and porcelain glaze.
In-Mold Labeling (IML)
A pre-printed PP film is placed in the mold and fuses into the part during injection.
Integral Structural Durability
Graphic and wall become one homogenous plastic part, so the label cannot peel or bubble.
How to Choose the Right Technology
Match your project requirements against technical boundaries: substrate compatibility, artwork complexity, coverage scope, interactive pigment needs, and production run economics.
| Technology | Best Substrates | Graphic Detail | Coverage Scope | Color Change Inks | Base MOQ | Relative Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Screen Printing Silkscreen | All Materials | Solid Pantone Colors, Special inks | Spot logo or 360° cylindrical | ★★★★★ Native | 1,000 pcs | $ Low-to-Mid |
| Dry Offset High-Speed Rotary | All Materials | Photo halftones, smooth gradients, Non Color Changing | Full wrap (Conical profiles) | ★★☆☆☆ Limited | 10,000 pcs | $ Lowest (at scale) |
| Water Decal Low/High Temp | All Materials | Multi-color illustrations, fine linework | Full wrap around handles & compound curves | ★★★★★ Excellent | 1,000 pcs | $ Mid-to-High |
| In-Mold Labeling IML Mold-Fused | Injection Molded Polypropylene (PP) | Full photographic CMYK + spot metallics | 100% full surface rim-to-base wrap | ★★★★★ Excellent | 5,000 pcs | $ Low (unit) / $ (tooling) |
Color-Change Reveal Campaign
If your marketing hook depends on revealing hidden characters or seasonal messages when iced or hot liquids are poured in:
Recommendation: Rotary Silkscreen (for tumblers) or Low-Temp Decal (for complex mugs).
Mass Retail / Festival Merchandise
When ordering 10,000+ units of durable, reusable drinkware requiring full-wrap artwork with strict dishwashing requirements:
Recommendation: In-Mold Labeling (PP cups) or Dry Offset (Aluminum drinkware).
Corporate VIP & Executive Giftware
When targeting high perceived value with low volume, sophisticated matte surfaces, and intricate multi-color details:
Recommendation: Powder Coat Base + Fired High-Temp Ceramic Decals.
Not Just Factory Printing.
Engineered Certainty.
Pre-Flight Artwork Feasibility Review (DFM)
We audit your vector assets, vector traps, stroke thresholds, and color separations to prevent optical distortion across tapered cup profiles.
Golden Sample Sign-Off Under Real Conditions
Color-changing formulas are validated with calibrated cold-water and hot-water thermal baths before cutting production dies.
Permanent BOM & Ink Vault Storage
We archive digital color coordinates, mesh tensions, baking temperature curves, and master retain samples for identical reorders year after year.
Standard Laboratory Testing Battery QC PROTOCOL
Cross-Hatch Adhesion Test
Class 5B rating required. Zero flaking under aggressive 3M adhesive tape pulling.
Surface Scratch Resilience
Weighted tungsten needle drag testing to guarantee transit and backpack durability.
Food Contact Migration
Tested for heavy metals, BPA, phthalates, and overall chemical migration standards.
500+ Cycle Longevity
Repeated transitions between 4°C and 85°C to certify thermochromic reversibility.
